Rooted in Wellness
Rooted in Wellness provides health coaching, personal training, small group training and yoga in-home and at the RIW Studio located in Superior, WI. I work with individuals and small groups focusing on feeling good in your skin, tapping into self-love and overall designed to improve health and wellness at the root level.
I work with my clients to break down their goals into manageable pieces and work on creating new healthy habits that will make goals a reality. The wellness plan is always client driven and as the coach, I am here to provide guidance and support.
I believe that each individual has within them what they need to make the transformation they desire.
About me
I have lived in the Duluth area for 16 years. I grew up in Aberdeen, SD then went to St. Cloud State University where I majored in Social Work with a minor in Human Relations. After college, I moved to Duluth where I have lived since 2004. I have a 16-year-old cock-a-poo, Delila who is my only child and a total joy.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being active outdoors, eating good food, traveling and being creative.
I like to live a simple life and spend my time doing things that bring me joy and inner peace.
My passion is creating a healthy lifestyle that is simple, loving and focused on listening to the true needs of the body. I love sharing this with my friends, family and in the work I do.
I began my wellness journey around 10 years ago at a time when I needed extra help managing anxiety. I took a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and learned how to breathe, meditate and do some simple yoga poses. After that, I started learning more about healthy, whole foods and how the foods we eat relate to overall mental and physical wellness. I love the idea that our body is self-healing and when given a chance it will heal itself.
In 2010, I started taking cardio kickboxing classes and quickly saw a change in my mood and the way my body felt. These classes not only helped relieve stress, but also provided a sense of community. Some of the people I first met at the gym are now some of my best friends to this day.
Shortly after starting kickboxing I also started lifting kettlebells and between the two I was in love with being active. I felt mentally and physically challenged by both and found a new healthy outlet for managing daily stressors.
My certifications include: Yoga 200 hour teacher training, Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching, Personal Trainer (NASM) and I am a MN Licensed Social Worker. Additional training includes chronic disease self-management, tobacco treatment counseling and Tai Ji Quan. I have 14 years of social work experience in a medical setting.
Currently, I am working on a certification in Katonah yoga and my 300 hr YTT.
I love being able to work with my clients to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle that provides a foundation for a long life free of dis-ease.
