About
Rooted in Wellness
Rooted in Wellness provides health coaching, personal training, small group training, yoga privates and classes. I work with individuals and small groups with an overall focus on feeling good in your skin, tapping into self-love and improving health and wellness at the root level.
I work with my folks to break down goals into manageable parts and on creating new healthy habits that will make those goals a reality. Your wellness plan is always driven by you and as the coach, I am here to provide guidance and support.
I believe that each individual has within them what they need to make the transformation they desire.
About me
I have lived in the Duluth area for 18 years. I grew up in Aberdeen, SD then went to St. Cloud State University where I majored in Social Work with a minor in Human Relations. After college, I moved to Duluth where I have lived since 2003. I have a 16-year-old cock-a-poo, Delila who is my only child and the love of my life.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being active outdoors, traveling and being creative.
I like to live a simple life and spend my time doing things that bring me joy and a sense of inner peace.
My passion is creating a healthy lifestyle that is simple, loving and focused on listening to the true needs of the body. I love sharing this with my friends, family and in the work I do.
I began my wellness journey around 11 years ago at a time when I needed extra help managing anxiety. I took a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and learned how to breathe, meditate and do some simple yoga poses. After that, I started learning more about healthy, whole foods and how the foods we eat relate to overall mental and physical wellness. I love the idea that our body is self-healing and when given a chance it will heal itself.
In 2010, I started taking cardio kickboxing classes and quickly saw a change in my mood and the way my body felt. These classes not only helped relieve stress, but also provided a sense of community. Some of the people I first met at the gym are now some of my best friends to this day.
Shortly after starting kickboxing I also started lifting kettlebells and between the two, I was in love with being active. I felt mentally and physically challenged by both and found a new healthy outlet for managing daily stressors.
My certifications include: Yoga 200 hour teacher training (Sacred Fig Yoga), Katonah Yoga® Instructor (Katonah Yoga Center – 200 hour training), Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching, Personal Trainer (NASM) and I am also a MN Licensed Social Worker. Additional training includes chronic disease self-management, tobacco treatment counseling and Tai Ji Quan Moving for Better Balance. I have 14 years of social work experience in a medical setting.
I love being able to work with my clients to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle that provides a foundation for a long life free of dis-ease.
